On the longer weeks, I'm logging hours into the high teens and I expect to go over 20 soon. With all all of this exercise, I'm burning a million calories and therefore I am hungry all the time.

I was at the gym the other day and as usual, I was starving. I went into their cafe and they had the standard bars which I'm SOOOOO tired of. They also had globs of what appeared to be uncooked oatmeal in the shape on a bar wrapped in saran wrap and they looked homemade. I asked the guy behind the counter about them and he didn't really have anything to add to what I could see other than it was oatmeal and fruit. I decided to purchase one and I didn't regret it one bit. It was absolutely delicious.

Since the bar appeared to be homemade and I can cook, I thought maybe I could find a recipe. A quick search yielded many recipes for baked items and lots of those recipes were just cookies. I decided to post on a forum, titled the subject the same as above and waited.

There were a few responses but nobody really had anything to offer other than they were interested too. One person responded with a comment that confused me at first. He stated that he thought the article was about biking. After thinking about this for a moment, I realized what he was saying. You see, as a male cyclist, sitting in the saddle for long periods of time causes some discomfort. I leave it at that. ;)

I finally found a recipe that wasn't exactly what I had but I think it's worth mentioning:

3/4 cup uncooked oatmeal
3/4 cup nonfat dry milk
3/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup raisins

Mix the oatmeal & milk together in a bowl. Mix the peanut butter, honey & vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth. Stir oatmeal mixture & raisins into the peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into small balls and store the refrigerator for two hours.
